Nowra is a short-term thought list on your iPhone. This page is the privacy policy for the Nowra app and this website. It says what data exists, who can see it, how long it lasts, and how you can delete it.
Who we are
Nowra is made by Neighborhub. Questions about this policy: hello@nowra.app.
What we collect
Nowra does not have accounts. It does not run ads. It does not include analytics or crash reporters of our own. We do not run a Nowra server that stores your thoughts.
On your device, Nowra keeps:
- The text of thoughts you speak or type (chips), until you clear them or they expire.
- Whether you have seen the first-launch screens.
- Local reminder schedules so parked thoughts can nudge you before they expire.
That text lives in an App Group on the phone so the Lock Screen and Home Screen widgets can show the same list. It does not leave the device as a Nowra upload.
Microphone and speech
If you tap the mic, iOS asks for Microphone and Speech Recognition. Nowra listens only while capture is running. Nowra does not save the recording. It keeps the words that come back as text.
Speech Recognition is an Apple service. When on-device recognition is not available, Apple may process the audio to return text, under Apple’s privacy policy. You can refuse the mic and type instead. You can turn both permissions off later in iOS Settings.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Nowra schedules them on the device (for example late in the day if chips are still open). Those alerts are local. We do not send push from a Nowra server.
This website
The marketing site is static pages. We do not put a tracking pixel or an analytics script on it. Your host or browser may still see normal request logs (IP address, pages loaded) as part of delivering the site.
What we share
We do not sell your data. We do not share thought text with advertisers. The only third party that may see spoken audio is Apple, and only to turn speech into text as described above. If we ever used another vendor that received user data, they would have to protect it at least as well as this policy requires.
How long it lasts
A chip expires at the end of today, unless you Keep it once, until the end of tomorrow. Clearing a chip deletes that text from the list. Deleting the Nowra app removes the App Group data from the phone.
Your choices
- Type instead of speaking. No mic needed.
- Deny or revoke Microphone, Speech Recognition, or Notifications in iOS Settings.
- Clear chips in the app or on the widget.
- Delete the app to remove remaining local data.
To ask us to confirm deletion, or if something did not clear, email hello@nowra.app. There is no Nowra cloud copy to erase on our side. We will tell you that, and help you get the device copy gone.
Children
Nowra is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Continued use after a change means the new text applies.
